225. No matter or thing done by the Urban Council or Building Authority or by any member of the Council, or by any Health Officer or Sanitary Inspector or other person whomsoever acting under the direction of the Council, a Health Officer or the Building Authority shall, if it was done bonâ fide for the purpose of executing this Ordinance, subject them or any of them personally to any action, liability, claim, or demand whatsoever: Provided that nothing herein contained shall exempt any person from any proceeding by way of mandamus, injunction, prohibition, or other order unless it is expressly so enacted.
226. The provisions of section 48 of the Interpretation Ordinance, 1911, shall apply to actions or proceedings com- menced against the Council, a Health Officer or the Building Authority or any person acting under their or his direction or any member of the Urban Council or officer or other person acting in his aid, for anything done or intended to be done or omitted to be done under the provisions of this Ordinance.
227. This Ordinance and the regulations and by-laws made thereunder shall not apply to any part of the New Terri- tories, except New Kowloon, unless the Governor-in-Council shall by order otherwise direct.
228. (1) The Governor-in-Council may from time to time by notification in the Gazette apply, with such modifica- tions as shall seem fit. any of the provisions of this Ordinance or any regulation or by-law made thereunder to any area in the Colony outside the area administered by the Urban Council and thereupon all such provisions of this Ordinance and all such by-laws and regulations made thereunder as are specified in such notification shall, subject to such modifications as aforesaid, come into force within the area to which the same has been applied.
(2) Where under sub-section (1) any of the provisions of this Ordinance or any by-law made thereunder shall have been applied to any area, the Governor may by notification in the Gazette appoint any person or persons, either by name or office, to exercise and perform within such area all or any of the powers and duties which are by the Ordinance or by any regulation or by-law made thereunder conferred or imposed on the Urban Council or on any Health Officer or Sanitary Inspector.
229. This Ordinance shall not come into operation until such date as the Governor shall notify by Proclamation as the commencement of this Ordinance.
